Kombucha Just Got Certified | Here’s Why It Matters
The Kombucha Confusion Is Real
Kombucha has grown fast. But not everything labelled “kombucha” is created equally.
Some are pasteurised.
Some are made from concentrate.
Some are stabilised for long shelf life.
Until now, there hasn’t been a clear way to tell the difference.
Introducing the KBI Verified Seal
The Kombucha Brewers International has launched the first industry-backed certification for authentic, traditionally fermented kombucha.
The KBI Verified Seal introduces three classifications to create transparency:
• Raw Kombucha – traditionally fermented, unprocessed
• From Concentrate – brewed using concentrated base
• Pasteurised & Processed – heat-treated or stabilised
For the first time, you’ll be able to clearly see how your kombucha was made.
Why This Matters
Fermentation is the heart of kombucha.
Processing and shortcutting the craft changes the final product. This new standard protects:
• The integrity of fermentation
• The craft of real brewers
• Consumer trust
