"I founded Tea of Life Kombucha in 2015 with the belief that beverages should do more than hydrate — they should genuinely support wellbeing.

As a Type 1 diabetic, my initial motivation was deeply personal. I experienced firsthand how this powerful functional drink supported my blood sugar balance and overall health, which inspired me to share these benefits with others.

Over time, I expanded our range to include nootropic blends, offering additional cognitive and mood-support benefits beyond traditional gut health. Our Sceletium & Honeybush variant has been especially well received and consistently outperforms the others. I’m particularly proud of this drink because Sceletium is uniquely indigenous to South Africa, and it has been exciting to see the growing global recognition of this remarkable African ingredient.

Despite operating in an increasingly competitive kombucha market, Tea of Life has continued to grow year on year. South Africa now has a surprisingly high number of kombucha brands relative to its population, which makes sustained growth even more meaningful.

To me, this shows that functional beverages made with integrity, transparency, and genuine consumer benefit are being embraced not only in South Africa, but worldwide.
