What you drink every day is quietly adding up.
The average South African soft drink contains 26 to 40g of sugar per 330ml. Energy drinks often contain more. Sweetened iced teas sit in the same range. None of them give your body anything useful in return for that sugar load.
Tea of Life REAL kombucha in a 250ml can contains 3.9g of sugar per 100ml — a fraction of what you are currently pouring in. Because we ferment for up to 30 days, the natural yeast and bacteria consume most of the sugar during brewing. What you get instead: live cultures, organic acids, real South African botanicals, and natural carbonation. All the satisfaction of a cold drink. None of the regret.

"I am a Type 1 diabetic. I had to find something that tasted like an indulgence without the sugar cost. That is exactly what we made."
When I started Tea of Life in 2015, I was motivated by a deeply personal need. As a Type 1 diabetic, I had to be precise about sugar. I wanted something cold and satisfying that I could reach for without the consequences. Something with flavour, with complexity, with real ingredients.
The cans range was born from that same intention — REAL kombucha in its most convenient, grab-and-go form. Six flavours. All alive. All genuinely low in sugar. Everything I needed and could not find anywhere else.
What you swap out. What you get back.
A standard 330ml soft drink contains up to 40g of sugar — 10 teaspoons in a single can. Your body spikes, then crashes. The energy drink version adds caffeine to make the spike feel productive. Neither gives your body anything it can actually use.
Tea of Life cans contain 3.9g of sugar per 100ml — naturally reduced over 30 days of slow fermentation. In return you get live cultures, organic acids, South African botanicals, and natural carbonation. All the satisfaction of a cold drink. Something to actually feel good about.
Six flavours in a 250ml can. In your bag, in the cooler box, at the gym, on the desk. The same REAL living kombucha as the bottle range — portable, Halaal certified, and ready wherever the craving for something cold and satisfying hits.
The community speaks
Tea of Life has become one of those little daily rituals I genuinely look forward to. It feels like I'm choosing something that supports my body instead of working against it. I truly believe there's a powerful connection between our gut and our mind — looking after my gut has become one of the greatest investments I've made in my overall wellbeing.
Drinking Tea of Life almost every day for the past 3 years has made me realise how simple health can be. Being able to sip my skincare and my probiotics as well as supporting my immune system is pure magic, especially when it tastes this good. Don't know what I'd do without it.
Lately I've really been enjoying Tea of Life in the mornings. Especially on days where I feel a bit bloated or just want a slower start to the day. My favourite is probably Hibiscus Lime, but there's honestly a flavour for every occasion.
Absolutely delicious. The flavours are perfectly balanced, refreshing and not overly sweet. You can really taste the quality ingredients and every sip feels like a healthy treat. It's become my go-to drink for a refreshing boost and great gut health.
Healthy gut, healthy mindset. Tea of Life is my favourite probiotic drink that enhances my mood every day.
Everything you want to know.
The cans contain 3.9g of sugar per 100ml — or 9.8g per 250ml can. This is naturally lower because we ferment for up to 30 days, during which the yeast and bacteria consume most of the sugar. By comparison, a standard 330ml soft drink typically contains 26 to 40g of sugar. A sweetened iced tea sits in a similar range.
Because we ferment for up to 30 days — most commercial kombucha ferments for 7 to 10 days. The longer the fermentation, the more sugar the living cultures consume. Many cheaper brands also add sugar back after fermentation to improve taste. We do not. What you taste is what the fermentation produced.
Many customers managing blood sugar find Tea of Life a suitable daily drink because of the low residual sugar and long fermentation. Our founder Elizabeth is herself a Type 1 diabetic and drinks it every day. As always, listen to your body and consult your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns.
Yes — most Tea of Life can flavours are naturally caffeinated from real tea, giving you a measured natural lift without the sugar spike or the crash that follows high-sugar energy drinks. The caffeine comes from the tea base and is present at moderate levels — enough to be noticeable, not enough to cause jitteriness.
The Mixed 6 Pack gives you one of every flavour — it is the best way to find your everyday go-to without committing to a full box of one flavour. If you are replacing a soft drink habit, Grapefruit Ginger or Hibiscus Lime are great starting points. If you are replacing coffee, Vanilla Bean Coffee is the obvious first choice.
Yes. All six Tea of Life can flavours are Halaal certified. They are also gluten free and suitable for vegans.
Kombucha naturally produces trace amounts of alcohol during fermentation — well below the legal threshold for classification as an alcoholic beverage. Tea of Life is a non-alcoholic product and is safe for children to enjoy in the can format.
